Feeling confined in his new home and distant from the rest of society, Clyde sets off into the world to make his own life the way he wishes it to be. Out there, he finds that he has a purpose greater than he had ever imagined. But pursuing his calling leaves behind a cleft in his life that may never be mended.
Another double post day! This was to be yesterdays, but New Year’s celebrations got in the way. Happy 2013, everyone!
I’m familiar with this, but I went to look it up to see if there’s any folklore to it or even some cultural roots and I couldn’t fing anything, which was disappointing. But it also left it more free to interpretation, which is somewhat nice.
I imagine that this fairy is rather shy and lives in dusty corners and abandoned drawers, making cloaks out of moth’s wings and befriending dust bunnies. She grants small wishes quietly, and not too many people know of her, even other fairies.
Suggest some character themes?
Trying to avoid using too familiar mediums/techniques, so this one’s kind of experimental. I like how it turned out, although it’s fairly simple. It was fun to research and draw out armor until I forgot to add it all… Ah well.
Okay, so this was meant to be yesterday’s challenge, but I couldn’t get it done it time so today will be a double upload day! It’s just a redesign of the concept for day 3, but it was really nice to spend more time on it and rework it into something that I didn’t feel awful about.
Feel free to suggest more concepts for me to work on!
I didn’t have too much time for this one today, so it’s pretty quick and sketchy, but at least I got something!
Challenge, day 1.
There was a suggestion of a villainous, candy-themed girl, but somehow I got sidetracked to poison plants? So now here’s a villainous, jack-in-the-pulpit themed girl! But I’ll be sure to have an actual candy-themed girl up tomorrow.
Suggest character themes!
In order to keep occupied over break, I’ve decided to challenge myself to design a character a day. And I would like your help in doing so.
From now until January 12, you can suggest traits that may become a part of a character. It can be something as simply and definitive as ‘a blue rhino’, or it can be something like ‘carrot’ or even adjectives, similes, or character traits like ‘heroic’. Whatever you like! Even writing a little description or story would be fun to work with!!
There will be one character uploaded per day, and if a day is missed (without good reason) you have my permission to heckle me. Missed days will be made up with an extra design.
The finished designs will be auctioned (for personal use only) and critiques of the designs are completely welcome.
So send your descriptions on over and let’s see what I can come up with!
In other news, Clyde Lightbringer begins on the 1st, so be sure to check that out and read the first three pages if you haven’t already!
Also, regular commissions are open, and I will be opening mail-out card commissions once again in the next week!
Happy holidays, guys!

CLYDE LIGHTBRINGER goes live on January 1st, 2013, but you can read the first three pages here!
So the other day I went into the art room to grab some paint and there was a cabinet open with all these palettes that had primary colors already squirted into them.
I go over and ask the teacher if I could use one and she says yes, so without a second thought I gather up that and all the rest of the painting supplies I need and head off to go work on this.
After struggling with this for a while, wondering why the paint was drying as fast as I put it down, the teacher comes up to me and lets me know that I am using tempera paints.
